How to tell an anecdote

Hi there, to begin with, you have to make a video to start practicing and improving your speaking.(Student book page 9)
  • You can make your video using a cell phone, webcam, video camera or any other electronic appliance.
  • You can upload you video on YouTube, twitter and send the link to my mail or just send the video, you can also bring it to class and share it using bluetooth or an usb memory.
  • The video has to be between 40 seconds to one minute and a half, it must be of an appropriate size and quality but make sure it is not too big, so you can use a low resolution in your video.
  • Go to page 9 of your student's book Speaking section, read the instructions about how to tell and anecdote, choose a topic and record yourself answering the questions you will find on that activity.
  • Use the vocabulary range and grammar structures seen in class, such as: linkers (but, because, so, and, etc) and time sequencers ( then, later, after that, etc.) to improve your video, add any interesting detail that makes your anecdote more interesting. Remember to use the narrative tenses (past simple, past continuous, etc.)

You can practice your anecdote as many times as you want, but when you finally record it it's important not to read what your are filming.

Good luck and see you on Tuesday!
