Oral Activity

Hi dear students. As I told you here you will find the instruccions to make your video.
Aquí están las instrucciones para realizar su video.

First, go to page 24 of your student book, check the conversation between Kevin and Samantha when they meet each other. Then, try to do a conversation like the one they have. The video is in pairs. Chequen como se desenvuelve la conversación, y traten de hacer una muy similar, si su pareja es alguien de su mismo sexo, no hay problema imaginen que su interés es sólo de amistad. Usen las frases para mostrar interés que se encuentran en esa página, y que están marcadas con amarillo. Como: "Really?, how interesting, what about you?

How to tell an anecdote

Hi there, to begin with, you have to make a video to start practicing and improving your speaking.(Student book page 9)
  • You can make your video using a cell phone, webcam, video camera or any other electronic appliance.
  • You can upload you video on YouTube, twitter and send the link to my mail or just send the video, you can also bring it to class and share it using bluetooth or an usb memory.
  • The video has to be between 40 seconds to one minute and a half, it must be of an appropriate size and quality but make sure it is not too big, so you can use a low resolution in your video.
  • Go to page 9 of your student's book Speaking section, read the instructions about how to tell and anecdote, choose a topic and record yourself answering the questions you will find on that activity.
  • Use the vocabulary range and grammar structures seen in class, such as: linkers (but, because, so, and, etc) and time sequencers ( then, later, after that, etc.) to improve your video, add any interesting detail that makes your anecdote more interesting. Remember to use the narrative tenses (past simple, past continuous, etc.)

You can practice your anecdote as many times as you want, but when you finally record it it's important not to read what your are filming.

Good luck and see you on Tuesday!

Hi dear students, as we have a long weekend ahead, here you have some interesting activities for you to practice the pronunciation of regular verbs. First, go to the following image and scan it with the app "Scan Life", it will take you to a website where you can see another blog and a video with a very good explanation on the pronunciation of past simple of regular verbs. Watch the video and then, record with your voice 6 different sentences using two verbs of each kind of pronunciation, (es decir, 2 verbos en pasado que se pronuncien con /d/, 2 con /t/ y 2 con /Id/) and an appropriate past time expression. (last Monday, last month, yesterday morning, yesterday afternoon, two days ago, etc.)

Example of sentences:
1. I wanted to eat at the Italianis with my family last Saturday, but we couldn't go.
2. Mike worked hard to finish his homework yesterday.
3. My parents arrived at the airport 3 hours ago.

Take your recording to class (on Tuesday) and in groups of three compare your recordings and then put the recording in one file and send them to my mail after class, include the name of the 3 people in the team. (es decir cada quien lleva su grabación, escucha la de sus compañeros y las juntan en un solo archivo o grabación y eso es lo que me envían a mi correo, pero después de la clase del martes, para que yo reciba los mails en forma grupal y no individual.)

In case you don't have the app, here you have the link to the same page.

The second activity I want you to do is about grammar, it's for you to practice what we saw in class. It's a photocopiable activity,  answer it and take it to class to have feedback.

Grammar: there was, there were

See you on Tuesday. Enjoy your long weekend!
