Hi my dear students congratulations on your incredible performance in this course. I feel really proud of all of you.

As you know we are about to finish, so the last activity you have to do is the following. A video to evaluate your speaking.

Video: Showing agreement/disagreement.

1. Choose 2 of the 7 topics you have in your SB page 55. Decide if you agree or disagree and give at least 3 reasons.

2. Remember to use some of these expressions you have in the useful language, such as: First of all, secondly, my first point is that, another important point is that...

3. You have to use expressions to show agreement or disagreement. Example: I agree with that, I think that's true, I don't agree with that at all, I don't think that's true.

4. It's also important to use linking words such as: so, because, but, however, etc. and sentence adverbs, for example: unfortunately, suddenly, luckily, etc.

5. The video must last between 1.30 to 2 minutes.

6. Reduce the video quality so that it is easier for you to handle. You can send it to my mail, or upload it in youtube, or give it to me via blutooth.

7. You can use your mobile or video camera or any other electronic appliance to make your video.

Send you video by this Friday. See you and take care!

3. Make  at least 4 questions  to your partner about that thing using present perfect, present perfect continuous and simple past.
4. When you finish asking your partner about his or her 2 things or people, change roles and now you have to answer your partner's questions about you.

Example:

A: Why did you write laptop?
B: because my laptop is very important for me.
A: Really? How long have you had it?
B: I've had it for 2 years
A: Where did you get it?
B: I bought it at Costco
A: How much did you pay for it?
B I paid 4500 pesos
A: How did you pay it?
B: in cash

Important You will be graded according to the following criteria

1. You shouldn't read what you are speaking
2. You must sound and look natural
3. You must reduce the quality of your video so that it isn't too heavy.
4. The video must last up to a maximum of 2 minutes and a half
5. You should use appropriate grammar stuctures and vocabulary range, I mean, according to the level you are in.
6. Use correct pronunciation and intonation patterns.
7. Make sure you interact with your partner naturally.

Send your video to my mail or upload it on youtube, in this case, just send me the link or take it in a usb and give it to me, you can also use you cell phone and send it to me by bluetooth by this Friday.

In case you can't find a partner, change the activity and imagine you are talking about the things in your two circles.

Example:

I wrote Francis because we have been friends for 10 years. I met her in the secondary school. We've been doing many thins together since then...

I hope everything is clear. See you on Monday and take care.

How to tell an anecdote

Hi there, to begin with, you have to make a video to start practicing and improving your speaking.(Student book page 9)
  • You can make your video using a cell phone, webcam, video camera or any other electronic appliance.
  • You can upload you video on YouTube, twitter and send the link to my mail or just send the video, you can also bring it to class and share it using bluetooth or an usb memory.
  • The video has to be between 40 seconds to one minute and a half, it must be of an appropriate size and quality but make sure it is not too big, so you can use a low resolution in your video.
  • Go to page 9 of your student's book Speaking section, read the instructions about how to tell and anecdote, choose a topic and record yourself answering the questions you will find on that activity.
  • Use the vocabulary range and grammar structures seen in class, such as: linkers (but, because, so, and, etc) and time sequencers ( then, later, after that, etc.) to improve your video, add any interesting detail that makes your anecdote more interesting. Remember to use the narrative tenses (past simple, past continuous, etc.)

You can practice your anecdote as many times as you want, but when you finally record it it's important not to read what your are filming.

Good luck and see you on Tuesday!
